Help for Local Cancer Patients

Can Hope LogoCanHope provides financial, educational and emotional support for local cancer patients, encouraging them to rally against cancer and maintain good health. Formerly known as the Savannah River Cancer Foundation, CanHope is a nonprofit organization that helps people affected by cancer in Aiken, Allendale, Barnwell or Edgefield counties.

Financial Support

Patients who qualify for financial support may receive payment assistance for cancer-related medications. CanHope may also provide transportation to cancer treatment and doctor appointments.

Early Detection and Prevention Resources

CanHope was established with the goal of reducing the impact cancer has on our community. The organization promotes health-conscious education and local support services to raise awareness of early detection and prevention resources, including:

  • Fact sheets about the warning sings of common cancers
  • Events that offer screenings and prevention education
  • Consultation and support groups for patients and their families
  • Referrals to other service organizations

Support Groups

Cancer can be overwhelming, affecting both your physical and emotional well-being. Through guided support groups, CanHope empowers cancer patients, survivors and anyone affected by cancer to continue to live each day to its full potential.

Date: Third Wednesday of every month (except in December)
Time: 2 - 3 p.m.
Location: Aiken’s First Baptist Church, Chesterfield Avenue.

Support groups are led by a chaplain, but are non-denominational. Men and women of any age, and with any type of cancer, are welcomed to join and bring their families, friends and caregivers. Meetings are held in the Parlor of the church.
