The Women’s LifeCare Center is a unit where women of all ages can receive comprehensive, personalized care. The childbirth center provides newborns and their parents a strong start in life together, from advanced clinical expertise to warm, personal attention in modern labor/delivery/recovery birthing suites. The Level II nursery is equipped to take care of babies who require specialized treatment. For women requiring gynecologic surgery, breast surgery or plastic surgery, the Women’s LifeCare Center serves as a source of knowledge, care and comfort for the women and families in our community.

  • 17 postpartum/GYN rooms
  • 18-bed Level I Nursery
  • Eight-bed Level II Nursery

Qualifications

Applicants must be a Registered Nurse, Certified Scrub Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Labor and delivery RNs will need NRP, ACLS, BLS and AWHONN fetal monitoring. Nursery RNs will need NRP, BLS and STABLE. Postpartum RNs will need NRP and BLS. Scrub Techs and CNAs will need BLS and NRP. All are required within six months of hiring and are offered by our facility or our Regional Perinatal Center.

Nurse grads are welcome (limited availability).

What to Expect When Working on Unit

Nurses receive a four to 12 week orientation depending on level of experience. Nursing staff members work 12-hour shifts, 7 – 7, and are expected to work holidays (as required by your employment level). We offer a positive work environment with strong teamwork. The Women’s LifeCare Center is a family centered unit which includes the care of patients and coworkers.

Educational Opportunities Specific to Area/Career Growth

We provide continuing education for unit specific issues, and encourage ongoing degree education and certification in your area of expertise. We offer fetal monitoring classes, breastfeeding education, and OB specific modules in Healthstream. The hospital also offers Childbirth Preparation Classes which are taught by OB nurses certified in childbirth education.

The Women's Breast Health and Imaging Center is an outpatient facility on the Aiken Regional Medical Centers campus that offers an exceptional level of care and comfort for women in Aiken and surrounding areas.
