From the CEO
We know that women play a key role in the health of their families and our community. So, in this issue, we’re featuring three articles for women. The first discusses women’s heart health, including surprising facts about cardiovascular disease in women, and warning signs women should be aware of.
We can’t hide our pride. We’re delighted that over 1,000 women have become members of WE (Women Enlightened for Better Health), the first and only initiative in the CSRA designed to guide women in making informed health decisions for themselves and their families.
Dr. Oletha Minto is an OB/GYN on our medical staff. The young physician and mother of four was startled to learn that the fatigue she attributed to being a working mom was actually a sign of cardiovascular disease. Her story follows her experience as a patient at ARMC’s Cardiovascular Institute of Carolina.
Speaking of the Cardiovascular Institute, we’re honored that it has been recognized as having the fastest response time in diagnosing and treating heart attack patients in the Central Savannah River Area. Page 8 tells more about how the Institute has expanded to become one of the most advanced treatment centers in the region.
And although coming to the Emergency Room can be a lifesaver, we know it can be stressful if you encounter a long wait. Take a moment to read When You Need Emergency Care to learn what to expect.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this issue of Quality of Life.
