Wound Healing Institute of Carolina Receives KCI V.A.C. Certification
Aiken, SC (November 17, 2011)—All associates at the Wound Healing Institute at Aiken Regional Medical Centers have received KCI Nursing Competency Wound V.A.C. Certification. The Kinetic Concepts Inc. certification is administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Wound Healing Institute is the only facility in the Aiken/Augusta area at which all associates have earned certification.
V.A.C.® Therapy uses vacuum to apply negative pressure to a wound to help the wound heal from the inside out, quickening the healing process.
This nationally accredited certificate of competency validates nursing knowledge and skills related to the use of the V.A.C therapy system at the Wound Center. In 2009 KCI became the first commercial entity to develop and receive accreditation for an American Nurses Credentialing Center Nursing Skills Competency Program.
The Wound Healing Institute is located on the main campus at Aiken Regional Medical Centers and offers some of the most advanced wound care therapies available today, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
