Aiken, SC (August 6, 2012) - When dealing with the heart, minutes matter and at the Cardiovascular Institute of Carolina at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, we take those minutes seriously. The cardiology staff and cardiologists have consistently kept our Door to Balloon (D2B) time below the national standard of 90 minutes and the state standard of 60 minutes.
In July, the Cardiovascular Institute of Carolina began operating in a completely renovated cath lab. The lab is now fully capable to handle all peripheral vascular cases rather than strictly cardiac cases. The advanced equipment will allow for the cardiologist and his team to provide the best quality healthcare while shortening the procedure time. With larger hi-def image screens, cardiologist can now compare past and current images in both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional with masking capabilities and quicker image time resulting in less radiation levels for the patient.
ARMC's special procedures suite is currently under renovation. Once complete, the Cardiovascular Institute of Carolina will have some of the latest technology to provide high-quality care to all of our cardiovascular patients. This will not only include heart, but interventional cardiology cases such as dialysis and stroke patients.
