Quality Is Our Top Priority

SE trophyAt Aiken Regional Medical Centers (ARMC), we're proud to be part of a dynamic and growing community. In fact, with a booming retirement population, Aiken was recently voted one of the best places in the country to retire by Money Magazine. We know that providing exceptional healthcare is what makes us a valuable asset to the community and is one of the reasons so many choose to live here.

Because of our commitment to maintaining this high standard of quality through continuous improvement and compliance with national standards, we participate in several initiatives, including:

  • National Hospital Quality Alliance initiatives designed to improve the delivery of care for acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), congestive heart failure and pneumonia (joined in 2002)
  • Surgical Care Improvement Project (joined in 2004)
  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement's (IHI) 5 Million Lives Initiative, a national effort to improve healthcare (joined in 2005)

ARMC regularly ranks among the top hospitals in these initiatives when compared to national, regional and local participants. See how we rank against national and state averages.

ARMC has received state and national recognition for our participation in the IHI 5 Million Lives campaign. Because of our success in improving care for acute myocardial infarction and ventilator pneumonia, we serve as a mentor hospital for other institutions. Leading the Way in Best Practices for Heart Attack Treatment

ARMC also participates in the American College of Cardiology's (ACC) D2B (Door to Balloon) Alliance™. D2B is a best-practice guideline for patients having a heart attack. ACC developed the D2B initiative to decrease the time it takes to restore blood flow to the heart of an emergency room patient who arrives with chest pain. We continue to work with state and local groups on ways to transmit EKGs from ambulances en route to the hospital, so that staff and physicians are prepared before the patient arrives.
